The situation surrounding Borussia Dortmund center-back Nico Schlotterbeck and his injury continues to develop.
Schlotterbeck was actually injured during a drill that was supposed to be “fun” and “competitive” which involved dribbling around slalom poles. Unfortunately for the BVB star, he lost control of his body and sustained an injury:
This is the exact moment Schlotterbeck hurt his ankle during a ‘fun competitive drill’ in the warm-up before the final training session in Herzogenaurach. The players had to dribble around slalom poles in four different groups. Schlotterbeck lost control of the ball and veered into another group, where Finn Jeltsch was dribbling at the time. Schlotterbeck twisted his ankle, went down and grabbed his right ankle. He left the training session and underwent an MRI scan.
Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) checked back in with additional information as well:
Nico Schlotterbeck will leave the national team camp with an ankle injury and will therefore miss the games against Serbia and Greece. Nevertheless, the new injury is not as serious as the one he suffered at the World Cup and does not require surgery.
That last bit of reporting is good news and should help both Borussia Dortmund and German national team fans exhale (if even just a bit).
