Our Washington State Cougars once again hop on a plane and head to a faraway land, this time Charlottesville, Virginia, home of the no. 18 Virginia Cavaliers. If last week’s game was any indication, our Cougs are up to the task.
Last week’s near-upset of no. 4 Ole Miss put some hope in the minds of Coug fans everywhere, but what matters is what’s in the minds of Coug players. The pessimist in me says Ole Miss overlooked our Cougs, while the optimist tells me Jimmy Rogers had his team prepared and
the sting of that close loss will motivate them today.
But hope is not a strategy, something the Cougs surely know. As has said on this site before, college football is a week-by-week sport, and last week’s performance isn’t 100% indicative of what we can expect the rest of the season. But who knows? Maybe we’ll be shocked and surprised today.
There are certainly signs that point to some worry, though. The Cougs can’t tackle, and veteran offensive lineman Christian Hilborn’s status seems to be a secret. We’ll find out today. Talk about it here.
When
3:30 p.m. PT, perhaps the best time of day to play this time of year. Last week’s breakfast with the Cougs in the background was nice, but 3:30 p.m. PT is perfect.
Where
Scott Stadium, which fits 61,500. Whether that many will turn out today remains to be seen.
How to Watch
We’re back on The CW for this one, with Thom Brennaman and Will Blackmon on the call.
The Line
Cougs are 17.5-point underdogs, according to ESPN Bet, and the O/U is 55.5. Not as long as last week’s odds, but still a steep climb!
