The Portland Trail Blazers and Head Coach Micah Nori held their first day of training camp on Monday in Tualatin for the 2026-27 NBA season. Below are a few tidbits gleaned from the media availability session following practice, which included interviews with Nori, Damian Lillard and Toumani Camara.
Team Goals
Before they hit the practice floor on Monday, the Trail Blazers first held a meeting to go over their goals and expectations for the season. Camara listed some of those goals to reporters:
- 50-plus wins
- Home-court advantage in the playoffs
- And, of course, be consistent every game
Starting Lineup?
Lillard was asked
about whether he expects to start this season. He said, as far as he knows, Ja Morant, Deni Avdija and himself will all start heading into the season, although he clarified he hasn’t had an in-depth discussion about it with Nori.
Nori’s First Day
Monday marked Nori’s first official practice as an NBA head coach. He said they’re working to establish their identity through training camp and the preseason.
On defense, that identity means playing physical, flying around to contest shots, and limiting opponents to one shot. On offense, that identity means playing with pace, taking care of the ball, and crashing the glass.
