One of the last (and arguably few) good things Juan Cabal has done in a Juventus jersey was score what proved to the game-winning goal with a rather unexpected header against Bologna in mid-December.
Eight months later, that same sort of axis may well help unlock one of Juve’s long-desired transfer moves this summer.
According to TuttoJuve’s Mirko Di Natale, Juventus and Bologna have discussed the possible inclusion of Cabal in a deal that would, in turn, see Jhon Lucumí make his way to Turin as he has
been hoping to see take place all summer. Lucumí, who reportedly has a €25 million price tag attached to his name despite having just one year left on his contract at Bologna, has been holding out for a move to Juventus this summer, but the price tag (surprise!) has been the major sticking point as the two clubs have talked (and recently re-engaged in talks in recent days).
But if Cabal is really an option to off-set some of the cost Bologna demands, then that could very well be the key to getting the Lucumí signing across the finish line as he reportedly declines all other offers to try and move a move to Juventus happen.
Cabal is reportedly valued at around €10 million, according to Di Natale.
Cabal has had a very mixed time at Juventus since he signed from Hellas Verona in the summer of 2024 amidst then-sporting chief Cristiano Giuntoli’s attempted squad overhaul that completely blew up in his face (and is still being felt today). He showed some early potential albeit with some mistakes thrown in, then suffered a torn ACL while on international duty in October 2024, and his appearances since coming back from said injury have been anything but convincing.
It was clear by the end of the 2025-26 season that he was likely not up to snuff to play at Juventus, and that a move away from Turin was possibly in the cards during the coming summer.
If the €10 million valuation is something that Bologna is good with and they want to sign Cabal, then it would likely go a long away in a deal potentially happening considering Juventus seem unwilling to match the €25 million asking price that is currently being demanded.
Maybe one Colombian can help another Colombian make things happen and put the wheels in motion. We shall see.
