In the aftermath of the= Michigan Wolverines defeating the UConn Huskies 69-63 in the National Championship on Monday, guard Elliot Cadeau was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
Cadeau was dominant in the Final Four — averaging 16.0 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds to lead Michigan to the second national title in school history. There’s no doubt he was the most impactful player on the court.
After racking up 13 points, 10 assists and four steals in a historic Final Four win over
the No. 1 seed Arizona Wildcats, Cadeau followed it up with a game-high 19 points, three rebounds and two steals and in the national championship win.
Despite only being with the program for one season, Cadeau already etched his name into Michigan’s history books. The North Carolina transfer was very good throughout the season, but turned it up a notch in the NCAA Tournament.
With Yaxel Lendeborg dealing with a pair of injuries, Michigan desperately needed someone to step up on both ends of the floor and Cadeau did just that. Now, the Michigan guard adds the Most Outstanding Player award to his résumé.
In addition to playing at an elite level in the Final Four, Cadeau played at an elite level in the month of March as a whole. Since the regular season ended, Cadeau averaged 12.6 points, 7.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds over the last nine games.
