In Tuesday’s ACC Action, Wake Forest travels to Pitt, Virginia goes to Notre Dame, Syracuse heads down to Raleigh and the Techs play in Cassell. Interesting!
Wake and Pitt is a game that Wake should win. Pitt is just not very good and in a close game, is an awful free throw shooting team. The Deacons had a spark in Cameron Saturday and aren’t awful. They just have some weaknesses, notably at center.
It’s hard to imagine Notre Dame upsetting Virginia, particularly after the Wahoos lost to UNC Saturday.
It’d be surprising if they didn’t play hard and the Irish probably don’t have enough to pull that off. However, they could keep up in a loose offensive game if Braeden Shrewsberry gets on a heater and Jalan Haralson offers support.
Syracuse is trending towards mediocre and NC State, while erratic, is still the better team. However, the Orange should be able to defend inside so State may need to win in transition or on outside shooting. We like the Pack here if only because they tend to consistently play hard and Syracuse, to date, does not.
And as for the Techs, Georgia Tech has shown some heart and resourcefulness, so you can’t rule them out. That said, it’s hard to not take the Hokies here. First, their homecourt can be really challenging for visitors (Duke may be reminded of this on Saturday) and second, Mike Young has a pretty good team. Amani Hansberry has probably exceeded expectations and Tobi Lawal is back. Neoklis Avdalas is up and down but he’s very capable. Advantage: Hokies.
