Did you get the Cleveland Browns initial 53-man roster memorized? Welp, there is a reason we call it the “initial” roster over and over again because things change quickly. On Sunday, the Browns waived and released a number of players, including WR Luke Floriea.
Less than 24 hours later, waiver claims were due at 1 PM, with Cleveland looking to make some upgrades at different spots on the roster, which could include one of the current quarterbacks being replaced by a claimed or signed player. Often,
teams looking to build a roster that struggled the previous season will make the most moves, but the Browns claimed just one player: CB Toriano Pride
Pride was selected in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. The 5’10” cornerback spent two years at Clemson and two years at Missouri before being drafted. His draft profile by The NFL Network notes his traits:
Pride did an admirable job of holding up outside against solid SEC competition but he’ll be under consideration as a slot corner in the pros. He plays with good zone awareness and average man-cover talent. He’s athletic with agile feet and is feisty at the catch-point, but he might not have the needed speed or length. Toughness is not an issue, but he will be dragged for additional yardage as a run-support tackler. Pride could go late on Day 3, but a lack of traits and explosiveness create an uphill fight for him.
Pride did not play a game for the Bills in 2026.
Floriea was not among the 29 players claimed on Monday and is now free to join any team and seems likely to sign with the Browns practice squad. The Miami Dolphins claimed seven of the 29 players on Monday.
At this time, Cleveland has not provided information on the corresponding roster move to make way for Pride on the 53-man roster.
Are you surprised the Browns only claimed one player? Did you expect Floriea to be claimed by a team?
