On Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs used their official X account to announce eight roster moves ahead of Sunday’s road game against the Tennessee Titans.
Three players are coming off the 53-man roster.
Two of them — linebacker Leo Chenal and right tackle Jawaan Taylor — had already been declared out for Sunday’s game after missing all of this week’s practices with injuries. They are now being placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list, which will end their seasons.
The third player is veteran running back Elijah Mitchell, who was signed as a free agent last March, but has been inactive for all but one game this season: the Week 11 matchup against the Denver Broncos, in which he was targeted once over seven offensive snaps. He is being waived.
To fill these roster spots, the team is activating three players from its practice squad: tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick, quarterback Chris Oladokun and running back Dameon Pierce. Godrick just appeared in his first Kansas City game last Sunday. Oladokun has been with the Chiefs since 2022, but has also logged just one appearance with the team. Pierce — who appeared in 42 games (with 20 starts) in four seasons with the Houston Texans — was signed to the practice squad a little less than a month ago.
Finally, the team has elevated two practice squad players for the game in Tennessee: linebacker Cole Christensen and tackle Matt Waletzko. Under NFL rules, they will automatically be returned to the practice squad on Monday. Both are being elevated for the first time this season.
