Lionel Messi made his Barcelona debut 21 years ago today and the club legend has certainly been thinking about that special day.
The GOAT has posted a series of images on Instagram to show he’s been remembering
the time he wore the Barca colors for the first time and added the caption: “21 years already….. Amazing.”
Messi wore the No. 30 shirt when he made his La Liga debut 21 years ago. He came on as a substitute and replaced Deco at Montjuic in a 1-0 win over Espanyol.
The rest, as they say, is history. Messi went on to become the greatest player the world has ever seen during his time at Barcelona and won the absolute lot.
Messi is now plying his trade in Inter Miami but has long made it clear he wants to return home with his family when he’s finally decided to hang up those incredible boots.
A tribute for the GOAT is planned for the Camp Nou, when the stadium is finally finished, while there’s previously been talk a role could be found for him at the club after his playing days are over.
