Amanda Serrano is one of the biggest names in women’s boxing right now, but she’s willing to make another move into MMA if it means getting to fight Gina Carano.
Serrano has a 2-0-1 record in MMA, fighting twice for Combate Americas back in 2018 and iKon in 2021. That’s a thin resume compared to her 49-4-1 boxing record with multiple championships, but as the 37-year-old “The Real Deal” looks to wind down that boxing career in 2026, she sees Carano as a good high-profile opponent to face at a future
MVP MMA event.
Serrano said she was ‘100%’ interested in the fight when asked by TMZ.
“I told [Jake Paul], listen, put me in coach, I’m ready to go in!” Serrano said, citing the excitement of May’s Rousey vs. Carano event. “It was a great show, live on Netflix, first time MVP’s done an MMA card, and it turned out beautiful. And if they decide to do it again, maybe before I’m completely done with fighting in general, I would love to go get in that cage.”
“Listen, just hear the sound of it. ‘Serrano vs. Carano. Serrano, Carano!'” Amanda said. “It would be an honor to go in there with such a great fighter. She’s a striker as well. She comes from a kickboxing background. So you never know. You never know.”
It would be another tough outing for Carano, who was finished by Ronda Rousey in just 17 seconds. MVP’s matchmaking doesn’t look like it’s getting any easier. MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian suggested perhaps Holly Holm would be a good next opponent for Carano, and now we have Amanda Serrano angling for a fight.
Despite her thin resume in MMA, Serrano is no joke. She beat Heather Hardy so bad in their two fight series that Hardy is still suffering from extremely serious brain trauma complications. Couldn’t they offer Gina someone like Miesha Tate instead? That’s all assuming Carano is interested in fighting again … an assumption that Gina hasn’t supported at all in the two weeks since her loss to Rousey.
But a Serrano MMA fight against the right opponent does sound like it could pad up the undercard of the next MVP MMA event … if the promotion is willing to sacrifice having her on their MVPW boxing series on ESPN.
