Reports that WWE was working on creative plans for Bayley
quickly led to talk that she signed a new contract ahead of her current deal expiring at the end of this year. After Bayley returned on Raw last night (Sept. 7) and resumed her story with Lyra Valkyria, we honestly assumed the talk of her re-signing was accurate.And that’s what Dave Meltzer said on the post-Raw Wrestling Observer Radio before discussing Bayley’s involvement in Valkyria’s Money in the Bank qualifier on this Monday’s show, ultimately
won by Sol Ruca:
“Yep, signed a new deal.“
Referring to “the belief” that Bayley had re-upped with WWE, Sean Ross Sapp said this on Fightful’s post-Raw show:
“I spoke to a wrestler two weeks ago that believes she re-signed with WWE, but none of that was confirmed yet.”
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, who was the first to report on WWE’s plans for Bayley’s return and who’s mentioned hearing some things about her possibly re-signing, is now hearing that the Grand Slam champ hasn’t re-signed. In a paywalled PWInsider Elite post, Johnson writes:
Multiple WWE sources have indicated that there were no conversations about Bayley signing a new deal as she still has lots of time left on her contract.
Anyone claiming she signed a new deal as a condition of her return would be 100% wrong.
That may be record time for a Meltzer refutation.
