The Buffalo Bills have begun their search for a new head coach in earnest, and reports indicate that a familiar face will interview for the job. The Bills have requested to interview former New York Giants
head coach Brian Daboll for their vacant head coaching position.
Daboll was the head coach of the Giants from 2022 through Week 10 of the 2025 season. After starting his coaching career with a 9-7-1 record and Coach of the Year win, as well as a Wild Card playoff victory over the Minnesota Vikings, the wheels fell off quickly. Daboll’s Giants teams never recaptured the magic of that first season, and he finished his tenure with an overall record of 20-40-1.
Of course, Daboll was Buffalo’s offensive coordinator from 2018-2021. Part of the reason Daboll was hired as the Giants’ head coach was because of his work developing quarterback Josh Allen, whose rookie season coincided with Daboll’s first season at the helm of Buffalo’s offense. Daboll was instrumental in Allen’s development from raw rookie into perennial MVP candidate, and the two maintain a close relationship.
During Daboll’s final season as offensive coordinator in Buffalo, the Bills finished fifth in total yards and third in total scoring. Before landing in Buffalo, Daboll held offensive coordinator positions with the Cleveland Browns (2009-2010), Miami Dolphins (2011), and Kansas City Chiefs (2012). He was the offensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2017, as well.
