Tennessee continued to add to the secondary on Sunday, continuing a busy weekend. The Volunteers picked up Isaiah Hardge from Colorado, who played on both sides of the ball for the Buffaloes. Hardge is
coming off of his redshirt sophomore season.
Hardge, standing in at 5-10, 165 pounds, caught five passes for 37 yards last season in Boulder. The Hollywood, Florida native is expected to land on the defensive side of the ball with Tennessee, however. Hardge played just under 100 defensive snaps this season, earning one start.
Tennessee’s Colorado-cornerback connection continues, following the addition of Colton Hood last season. Hood could end up becoming a first round pick in April’s NFL Draft. Boo Carter transferred to Colorado after spending two seasons in Knoxville.
Hardge has some return experience as well and could certainly help out on special teams. It’s another body in the cornerback room for Michael Hunter, who has already added Kayin Lee from Auburn and Tevis Metcalf from Michigan. Tennessee has also completely remade the entire safety room, adding four players there.
Tennessee’s work isn’t quite done, though the needs are suddenly running thin after a productive weekend. The Volunteers have still been working at EDGE and on the defensive line, looking to continue to build out depth. I’d expect to hear some news on that front pretty soon.
Tennessee is up to 18 current commitments in this transfer portal class.
