I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I’m no fan of Missouri and Texas A&M being connected as rivals as the league moves to a 9 game schedule. I just have no real feeling about Texas A&M in any way. When
Missouri has beaten the Aggies, I’ve enjoyed it but only as much as I enjoy it any time they win. There were some wins which means more than others, but it was more about what the win meant… the W could have been over any team and I’d have felt the same.
Of course I’m speaking directly of the SEC East clinching game in 2013. Keep running Henry Josey!
At one point, Mizzou had beaten A&M seven times in nine attempts, spanning from 2002 until 2014. But they’ve been in the same conference since 1996, and only played each other 13 times in roughly 30 years. The Tigers are 7-6, but many of the losses have been quite lopsided, including last year’s 41-10 loss. The average score of the 13 games is Texas A&M 30.1 to Missouri’s 26.8. Plus, Eli Drinkwitz is 0-2 against A&M in his career.
The Aggies likely would have fallen in the bottom quarter of teams I’d have picked as a permanent rival. But here we are, gonna have to play these guys again next year. Might as well beat them this time.
Expectations aren’t very high amongst the fan base considering the Tigers have been reeling a bit offensively, and they’re playing with a true freshman quarterback.
