It took until Week 13, but the Green Bay Packers are finally underdogs for their upcoming game at the start of a week. The Packers have been favored in each of their first 11 games of the 2025 season at the beginning
of the weeks leading up to their games, though the line did shift during the week and push them into underdog status once — that happened ahead of the Packers’ home game against the Philadelphia Eagles back in Week 10.
This week, they are set to play the Detroit Lions in the early game on Thanksgiving Day, and Detroit predictably holds the advantage in the eyes of the sportsbooks. As of early Monday afternoon, FanDuel sportsbook has the Lions favored by 2.5 points for the holiday matchup, effectively representing a typical home field advantage bump.
The Packers won these teams’ first matchup this season, setting a strong tone for the season in Week 1. Green Bay finished that week as one-point favorites for the game at Lambeau Field, but they jumped out to a big early lead and cruised to a 27-13 victory. That game was well under the total points line of 47, thanks in large part to the Packers’ impressive defensive performance, but that is not the expectation for Thursday afternoon.
FanDuel has the total points line set at a high number this week, with the over/under at 49.5. Only three times in 11 games has a Packers game hit 50 combined points all season, with Green Bay seemingly enjoying the number 27; the team has scored exactly 27 points in five of their 11 games this season. Meanwhile, there should be a fun battle when Detroit has the ball, as Green Bay’s defense has given up just 25 or more points only twice all season while the Lions have scored 30 or more six times. Of course, the 13 points that Detroit posted at Lambeau in week one is one of their worst performances all year, with only a 9-point game against the Eagles in Week 11 representing a lower scoring total in 2025.
This week’s game should have a massive impact on the NFC North divisional race, with the winner having a chance to catch the Chicago Bears for the division lead depending on the result of the Bears’ Black Friday game on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles. Green Bay will have two games against Chicago in weeks 14 and 16, while Detroit faces the Bears in Week 18 to close out the regular season.
