The Chicago Bears made the biggest splash ahead of the 2026 trade deadline when they acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans, but they may not be done.
In a recent ESPN article, Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano shared the latest intel and buzz around the trade deadline, and Graziano wrote that the Bears and the Detroit Lions are “poking around on potentially available cornerbacks.”
Fowler agreed that the Bears were looking for a corner, telling Graziano, “A few league
evaluators told me what you heard — that cornerback is becoming more of a need.”
“Washington’s Mike Sainristil is a name that has circulated this week, though I don’t get the sense the Commanders plan to trade him,” Fowler said. “An available corner such as the Eagles’ Riq Woolen for a Day 3 pick could make sense.”
The Commanders are 2-4-1, third in the NFC East behind the 4-2-1 New York Giants, so they may be ready to sell. They host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, two days before the November 10 trade deadline.
The Eagles are 2-6 and lost starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for the season, and are readying to start their third QB, Joe Milton, this Sunday at home against the Giants.
In other quarterback news, the Baltimore Ravens are trading for Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals, so you can disregard those Tyson Bagent rumors.
Fowler also wrote that the Bears “have been linked to edge rushers such as Khalil Mack.”
Yesterday, Ian Rapoport also mentioned Mack and the Bears, while adding, “The problem with that is Joe Hortiz, the general manager for the Chargers, has shown no indication that he wants to sell at all. They like how Khalil Mack has helped the young edges and helped the locker room. It’s bad there. They do not want to give up on the season.”
The winless Los Angeles Chargers played Mack a season-low number of snaps last week, and this Sunday they host the Houston Texans.
Rapoport also said former Bear cornerback Nahshon Wright, who has yet to play for the New York Jets, is a name to watch for the Bears.
