Steelers fans are not taking the 35-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers well on Monday. That frustration extends to former players, where none might be taking it as hard as James Harrison.
Monday, Harrison
went off on the Steelers and their failed performance.
“How do you not get up for Sunday Night Football if you can’t get up for anything else?” Harrison said on his podcast with Joe Haden, Deebo & Joe.
The two-time Super Bowl champion was on the team that lost Super Bowl XLV to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Now with Rodgers in Pittsburgh, things have started to shift for the offense, but they only scored nine points in the second half.
Before the game, Harrison ran out of the tunnel and led Acrisure Stadium in the pregame Terrible Towel twirl. After the game, Harrison called out the Steelers for another dud of a performance in primetime.
“Nothing else (is) on but you. At home in front of your family. Your kids.” Harrison said emphatically. “Make that name on your back mean something! Make (those) three stars on your chest mean something!”
The Steelers allowed 28 of Green Bay’s 35 points in the second half and were outscored 28-9 following a 16-7 halftime lead.
“They’re not playing at a high level,” Haden said. “They have to perform better.”
Deebo was clearly frustrated, to the point Haden said he felt like he needed to be Harrison’s counselor over the loss.
Can we really blame Harrison?
The Steelers are a far cry from the days of Harrison’s dominant defenses and a reliable offense with Ben Roethlisberger. Pittsburgh has lost two games in a row and is 4-3, no longer the favorites to win the AFC North.
The road becomes even more difficult with the 7-1 Indianapolis Colts coming to town on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Colts have the best record in football and are first in the NFL, averaging 33.8 points per game.
Indianapolis is third in total offense (393.3), while the Steelers are 27th in overall total defense (308.7). It’s a problem the Steelers have to address immediately before it derails the rest of their season.
