Fermin Lopez has opened up on his decision to stay at Barcelona after being the subject of a late summer bid by Premier League side Chelsea.
The youngster has opted to continue with Hansi Flick’s side and says that several of his team-mates spoke to him about the situation and urged him to stay in Catalunya.
“I’ve had a few conversations with some of them. But the whole team has been very supportive this week, and everyone wanted me to stay. The support from the dressing room is appreciated,” he told
Mundo Deportivo.
“Quite a few, but I can tell you… Ter Stegen, for example. With him, with Ronald, with Pedri… With quite a few players, really. Raphinha too.”
Pedri has already admitted he spoke to Fermin and “knew” he would stay at the club despite the offer of a move to London with the Blues.
Manager Hansi Flick also backed Lopez to stay, telling a press conference that he was a “really important player for us” and has a style “different to other players.”
