Last time a Chelsea manager head coach was nominated for Premier League Manager of the Month, it signaled the beginning of the end. Enzo Maresca would actually win said award for December, but by the end of the month, would be gone from the club. Football life comes at you fast!
So hopefully no such fate awaits Liam Rosenior. Thankfully, he’s got pretty good competition for the award, with Michael Carrick perhaps he favorite to win after beating both Manchester City and Arsenal in his first two games
as interim Manchester United manager. AFC Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Nottingham Forest’s Sean Dyche were also nominated despite barely winning half their games. Rough month, January, for many, I guess.
You can vote for Liam (or Carrick) here.
January was a good month for Enzo Fernández az well, with three goals and an assist to his name, and he’s earned a nomination for Player of the Month. We’ve often said over the past three years that when Enzo plays well, Chelsea usually play well, as well, so that’s great to see.
Enzo’s got strong competition, including from Brighton’s Igor Thiago, who continues to pour in the goals. He had five in five in January and is now only four behind Erling Haaland for the league lead. Haaland had just two in the month. Other nominees include Yasin Ayari, Patrick Dorgu, Junior Kroupi, Crysencio Summerville, the still in-form Harry Wilson, and even Florian Wirtz, who may be finally settling in to life in England.
You can vote for now our one and only Enzo here.
On a sidenote, both Shim Mheuka and Reggie Walsh were nominated for PL2 Player of the Month. This award is not decided by a public vote.
