Of all the trade rumors haunting the NBA for the last two seasons, none has been as persistent as the status of MVP-level forward Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks. Antetokounmpo’s relationship with the team that drafted him has been through the wringer. Back in 2021, when he led the Bucks to an NBA Championship, he looked like an eternal franchise player. Since then he’s been through a series of let-down trades, fired coaches, and general mediocrity. This season Milwaukee earned a 32-50
record and missed the playoffs entirely. Meanwhile Antetokounmpo is working on the last guaranteed year of his contract, eligible for an extension but not signing yet, able to opt out of his deal next summer.
In this environment, rumors are swirling around Antetokounmpo again. Some of them involve the Portland Trail Blazers, either as direct recipients or facilitators in a Giannis trade. We analyzed some of the pros and cons of such a deal for Portland earlier this year.
Today we want to ask a more general, warm-up question. Do you believe Antetokounmpo will be traded at all this summer, to any team? Why or why not? Where do you place the odds?
