The Bundesliga 2026/27 season has begun, and is three matchdays in. Bayern Munich faced SV Elversberg and won 2-1 with goals from Lennart Karl and Harry Kane. Kane is one of the top contenders for the Ballon d’Or this year due to his exemplary performances so far. He may not hold the largest trophy tally, but his quality has set the expectations.
The game against Elversberg on matchday 3 marked the end of Kane’s Bundesliga goal drought — he had not scored in both matchday 1 and 2. Prior to Elversberg,
in five games including all competitions, Kane had only secured three goals. This could be easily explained by the tactical restructuring that Bayern is currently going through. However, the expectation that Kane scores, still remains — both with fans, and the players.
Following the win, Aleksander Pavlović was asked whether the team joked about Harry Kane not scoring. “Of course we make jokes, but we don’t joke about that,” he said, per @iMiaSanMia. “I’m happy Harry got the winner today, and the way he scored the goal shows what kind of a world class striker he is.”
It is unclear who brought up the idea that players would troll Kane for not scoring, but at least now we know. As much as the team jokes about things, they certainly would not joke about their strongest Ballon d’Or contender.
