The #16 LSU women’s soccer team finished exhibition play with a draw and a loss. On August 5, the Tigers drew Alabama 1-1, and on August 8, they lost to UNC Wilmington 3-2. LSU will remain in North Carolina for their opener on Wednesday at #18 Wake Forest, a 7:00 p.m. match that ACCN will televise.
The UNCW match wasn’t streamed and I can’t find any stats from that match. The only things I found were that the Skyhawks scored three goals in the first half and that LSU got two goals from freshmen in the second
half. As for the Alabama game, I was there. LSU scored the opening goal on a seventh minute cross in the box by Allie Fryer to Ava Galligan. Alabama got the equalizer in the 65th minute with an Olivia Belcher kick assisted by Ashley Rori. Alabama dominated the run of play and had 6 shots on goal to LSU’s 2. LSU’s inability to get the ball in the box and do something with it was a problem that kept them from winning.
As for the opener with Wake Forest, LSU is 0-3 in program history against the Demon Deacons. Their most recent meeting was in the second game of 2025 when LSU went up and lost 1-0. Both teams are coming off solid seasons, and LSU will be looking to get off to a strong start.
