The last time we got an update from Yves Bissouma, he had just been stretchered off the pitch after playing for Mali in a World Cup qualifying match. That’s bad! Then we got word through the Mali international
squad physios that his ankle injury wasn’t as bad as feared, possibly sidelining him for a few weeks, and that he’d be evaluated by Spurs when he returned to England. That’s good!
Then… nothing. Until now. Bissouma just posted an update from his hospital bed, indicating that he has successfully undergone surgery and thanking his followers for the support.
That’s bad!
Everything went well. I thank God for everything that happens to me. Everything happens for a reason I’m simply following my destiny. Grateful to God for His protection. 🙏💫 #sonofGod 🙏🏾 #YB8 🦍
In yet another example of a footballer getting ahead of his own teams’ comm department, Tottenham Hotspur has yet to make any sort of official comment about Bissouma’s health, his operation, or how long he will be out of action. Based on this post, I think we can safely say Yves is set for an “indefinite” time on the sidelines.
This sucks even more because a) Spurs could use some central midfielders with some different skills than Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha, and also Biss was just coming back from another injury that’s kept him out of most of the matches this season. This means he’ll now be out for who knows how long, which might also complicate any attempts we might make to potentially sell him either in January or even next summer.
Regardless, it’s another entry on Spurs’ long-term injury list. I hate international football.
