What is the story about?
On Tuesday, the WNBA announced that Washington Mystics center Shakira Austin was named the WNBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Aug. 3-9. She averaged 22.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game while the Mystics have won all of their games in that time.
Furthermore, this is Austin’s second time winning the award. After just missing out on making an All-Star Game berth, she is definitely proving the naysayers wrong.
