The 4-4 Las Vegas Raiders play at the 6-1 San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Kickoff is set at 1:25 p.m. PT. Here are five keys to an upset victory:
Stop McCaffrey:
The Raiders have been getting gashed weekly on the ground. Christian McCaffrey awaits. This can get ugly.
Get turnovers:
This is how Las Vegas can pull off an upset. They need to get back to their early-seaosn ways of creating multiple turnovers.
Red-zone offense:
The Raiders are likely going to have to score a lot of points in this game. So, they
can’t settle for field goals. They were four-for-four in the red zone in a win at the Jets last wee after being a combined three-for-10 in the previous two games, which were both defeats. They need to cash in when they can.
Better cornerback play:
The Jets and Geno Smith picked on the Raiders’ cornerbacks last week. Brock Purdy can be a surgeon. We need to see a bounce-back game from this group.
Beat a good team:
We know the story of the Raiders so far this season. They can’t beat good teams but they take care of business against lousy teams. At some point, they must beat a quality opponent. This is as good as any week to start.
