Hamza Abdelkarim has been a bright spark for Barcelona in pre-season training and showed once again his prowess in front of goal by scoring the opener in the Joan Gamper Trophy against former side Al Ahly.
The youngster is expected to start the season with Barcelona Atletic but may just have played his way into Hansi Flick’s thoughts ahead of the new campaign.
The Barca boss did praise him after the game, saying: “Hamza is a good striker. We can see it when he attacks crosses. Today I saw him holding
onto the ball, which is good. This is what I want to see from him.”
Barcelona’s search for a new striker this summer is still yet to yield a result. Julian Alvarez looks destined to stay at Atletico and Barcelona’s next choice – reported to be Lautaro Martinez – will not be easy to tempt away from Inter either.
So is the answer to Barcelona’s No. 9 problem already at home? Or is Hamza still too inexperienced and needs a season with Juliano Belletti’s side instead?
