Rutgers basketball has landed its second four-star commit and second overall commit of the 2027 recruiting class, as guard Korey Francis has committed to play for the Scarlet Knights, according to Joe Tipton of On3 and his social media pages. His commitment comes after he took an official visit to Piscataway last weekend.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard out of Monsignor Bonner High School in Pennsylvania is ranked No. 129 nationally in the 2027 class by 247 Sports and is the No.108 player in the class according
to On3. 247 Sports has him listed as a combo guard while On3 lists him as a point guard. He chose Rutgers over offers from schools like Mississippi State, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Xavier, and others.
During the 2025-2026 season, Francis was named the 2025-2026 MaxPreps Pennsylvania High School Basketball Player of the Year. During that season, Francis averaged 21.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game for the Friars while shooting 52.3 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from three, and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line, all while helping his team go 24-6 and win the Class 5A State Championship for Pennsylvania.
He joins four-star shooting guard RJ Moore as the only two 2027 commits in the class for Rutgers.
