Barcelona and Real Madrid are being credited with interest in USMNT gem Cavan Sullivan as the fallout of news that Manchester City have been found guilty of multiple financial breaches continues.
Sullivan is currently set to join the Premier League side in 2028 when he turns 18, but his agent has suggested that may not be the case after all.
“Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world. What they have built cannot be erased from history. It is true that there is a pre-agreement with them
for Sullivan, but you never know what can happen. We hope that they solve everything in the best possible way,” Dan Segal said, according to Sport.
The report adds that Barcelona were among a host of top clubs keen on Sullivan before he opted for Manchester City. There is now doubt over whether that deal will actually go through due to the uncertainty hanging over City in the wake of last week’s blockbuster news.
There’s still no clear indication of what sanctions City may face if found guilty, but there’s been speculation the club could be fined, be handed a hefty points deduction or even have their titles stripped.
The news has already led to talk of top players – such as Erling Haaland potentially leaving – and it seems Sullivan’s future may be in doubt as well.
The teenager is widely regarded as America’s top young talent and made his debut for the USMNT earlier this month against Peru at the age of just 16.
