Aston Villa defender Pau Torres says he’s relishing the prospect of facing Lamine Yamal with Barcelona on Tuesday night in the Champions League at Camp Nou.
Torres knows Yamal well from his time with the Spain national team and admits his team-mates will have to be at their best to handle the threat offered by the Barca star.
“It’ll be a pleasure to play against him [Yamal] and have to defend against him on a few occasions,” he told Diario Sport.
“He always catches you out; he’s unpredictable, and often
one player isn’t enough to mark him. We’ll have to be very alert when it comes to providing cover.
Torres also believed that Yamal deserved to win the Ballon d’Or and is confident he will be crowned the best player in the world at some point in the future.
“Harry Kane’s stats have been excellent, but I wanted a Spaniard to win it and I think he [Yamal] deserved it. But if it wasn’t to be this year, it will be very soon because Lamine is very close. I’m sure he’ll maintain his form or improve on it.”
Yamal was been in great form this season and heads into the match on the back of another brace for Barcelona at the weekend against Alaves.
