What is the story about?
With the 22nd pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select Akheem Mesidor, edge rusher, out of The University of Miami.
Mesidor was a First-Team All-ACC selection in 2025 after helping the Hurricanes make it all the way to the CFP National Championship. He accumulated 12.5 sacks, 17.5 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles as he asserted himself as one of the most disruptive defenders in the country.
The Chargers were in need of a new edge
rusher after Odafe Oweh chose to sign with the Commanders in free agency. Khalil Mack returned on a one-year contract, but the Bolts defense is at its best with a trio of impactful pass rushers and Mesidor makes sure that will be the case next season.
