It appeared that the Dallas Cowboys were about to be down by seven points. As Javonte Williams was walking into the endzone after catching a pass from Dak Prescott, this was the collective thought.
Unfortunately, that thought was replaced by one of “what are you doing!?” as Williams was getting called for taunting in the process.
This was at a moment where the Cowboys were trying
to rally. The score was leaving them only down by one possession. Ultimately the Cowboys were unable (shocker) to get a defensive stop so this wound up a moot point, but the player in question is a veteran, one who the Cowboys gave a second contract to, and had a completely avoidable mistake.
What’s more is that this happened on a team where the head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, preaches so much about culture. What kind of culture is it to make this kind of mistake? Why are you even taunting when you are still down by a touchdown?
Mistakes happen and people, hopefully, learn from them. This was a rough one for Javonte Williams.
