Start clearing your evening calendars again, the Portland Trail Blazers’ regular season opener on Oct. 21 is now less than 50 days away! More basketball is right around the corner in Portland, complete with all the highs and lows that accompany an 82-game NBA slate.
I had the pleasure of appearing on Friday’s episode of the Locked on Blazers Podcast with Trail Blazers reporter Mike Richman to discuss the upcoming season and the big news this week concerning the NBA’s hefty punishment for the Los Angeles
Clippers. More specifically, regarding the Blazers, we highlighted what intrigues, excites and worries us about the team heading into the fall.
For a teaser to the discussion, I’ll reveal that I’m intrigued to see if Blazers bench wing Vit Krejci can win a key role in the rotation this season. Krejci may be the Blazer with the chance to make the biggest impact, in relation to how much he’s been discussed this offseason. The Blazers’ roster needs more shooting and size, and Krejci stands at 6-foot-8 with a career 39% 3-point stroke.
I’m most excited to see Damian Lillard’s anticipated return in a Blazers uniform after a two-year stint in Milwaukee and a one-year recovery from a torn Achilles. And I’m most worried about what Portland’s roster imbalance and lack of forwards could mean for the team’s defense and identity on the court.
But what do you think, esteemed Blazer’s Edge readers? Listen to the episode and let us know your answers to the questions below!
