This weekend your Georgia Bulldogs are playin…absolutely no one. These early season bye weeks still feel very strange to me, but with the Alabama Crimson Tide looking rejuvenated against Wisconsin and showing up on the schedule next week, and a host of injuries still plaguing the Bulldog front, it’s a welcome respite.
Gunner Stockton showed some real moxey this weekend with his first 300+ passing yard game and a signature road win. It didn’t go unnoticed beyond Bulldog Nation as Stockton’s Heisman
odds improved to 11:1, placing him behind only front runner Carson Beck and Oklahoma’s John Mateer. With the Crimson Tide coming to town Stockton will definitely have a chance to state his case for the award, but honestly I don’t care what happens so long as at some point on September 27th he leads a game-winning drive.
The defense on the other hand had a rough game, giving up more passing yards to Joey Aguilar in the first quarter than any Volunteer QB had managed in a whole game over the preceding four seasons. DawgNation has all the gory details fro
Our friends over at Rocky Top Talk are taking this one pretty hard, as well they should. Tennessee went toe-to-toe with the Red and Black in a way they have not in quite a few years., and still came up just short. Still, the Vols’ playoff hopes remain absolutely alive. If that was their worst loss of the season, it was a pretty compelling resume item.
Elsewhere in the SEC, LSU remains undefeated but you’d never know it from Brian Kelly’s running battles with the Louisiana press corps.
Imagine how things are going to go once the Bayou Bengals actually start losing games. That’s gonna be quite a show.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
