Today is our last day of assessing rosters in the WCG Dynasty Fantasy Football League. We have two more rosters to go, so let’s dive into it.
Today we look at Tyler Volz. Tyler has been on this team for the jump, and it was largely a middling team until recently. The team has shown improvement, become a playoff team, and last season was competing for a title despite coming up short.
Here’s the roster:
The QB room is great. Two QB1s. I would hate to rely on Bo Nix as my QB1, but as my QB2? Sign me up.
Herbert and Nix are a great duo. I’d love a 3rd QB in the room, but tough to complain.
Barkley and Brown are a great startable duo. Monangai is a nice rotational guy behind those two, and Stevenson works in that role as well, even if Henderson starts getting more of the load. Tracy is an interesting guy on the roster with the wild card that is Skattebo.
The WR room is also loaded. If Justin Jefferson rebounds? With ARSB and Smith (especially with no AJ Brown), that trio could be elite. Williams is a really strong 4th WR; I just don’t love the depth behind the top-end guys. That’s the biggest weakness here, but the starters are elite.
The tight end room is another one of those rooms where it’s functional but not spectacular. This room won’t win you any fantasy games, but it probably won’t be the reason you lost either.
On the defensive side of the ball is where we start to see some issues. The DT room is fine. It has plenty of functional players; again, they aren’t going to lose you games, but are any of these guys going to go out and drop 20 points in a single game? Not very often.
I love that the edge room has Will Anderson at the top. There are also some developmental guys in the mix like Mykel Williams; the rest of the room is loaded with solid guys. Hendrickson is a bigger name than a fantasy star because he doesn’t play the run well. You need tackles, not just sacks. Again, a room of solid guys is nice, but it could use another difference maker to go with Anderson.
The LB room looks a lot like the DT room. The room is fine, but it doesn’t have a guy capable of scoring 20 PPG, and you really need one or two of those guys in your LB room to make an elite defense.
There are too many CBs. Keep DeJean, cut everyone else. You’re welcome.
I’d like to see a few more bodies in the safety room, but the three that are on the roster are all solid guys. Bates and Cross could potentially be a really strong duo.
This team is a similar build to the team of Redacted. It has a really strong offense, and the defense isn’t bad; it just doesn’t stand out. When you start more defensive players than offensive players, as we do in this league, a great defense can actually win championships. Tyler is a team that’s contending this year for sure, and the roster is strong enough to win a title, but it needs some players on defense to step up and show that the defense can keep up with the offense. If it can, this team has a shot.
