The Minnesota Lynx (26-7) are killers, and your Dallas Wings (19-13) are up next on the block.
This tough stretch of scheduling for the weary Wings has them hit the road for a matinee matchup at the WNBA’s best team on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
The Lynx, who had their recent 10-game winning streak broken at home against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, got back to their winning ways early Saturday afternoon in a 98-87 victory over the Las Vegas Aces. Meanwhile, Dallas has
dropped four of its last five and five of its last seven as the Wings limp into the Target Center in search of any good signs the team can find.
The Wings were walloped by the second-place Golden State Valkyries on Friday, 94-76, at American Airlines Center.
Phee is back
The Wings have already lost to the Lynx twice this year, when the Lynx were without all-everything former MVP Napheesa Collier both times. Sunday’s matchup will be the first time this year Dallas has to contend with the extinction-level threat of the Collier-plus-rookie-Olivia-Miles duo.
Since her return on July 22 from two ankle injuries, Collier is averaging 19.3 points in 26.8 minutes. She’s played in just six games this year, the first three of which saw her increase her post-injury workload little by little. In her last four games against the Wings, Collier has scored an average of 28.8 points per game.
She’s going to get hers, it appears.
Will Azzi be?
Azzi Fudd was ruled out of Friday’s loss to the Valkyries with right knee soreness about a half hour before tipoff. Aziaha James replaced Fudd in the starting lineup after playing double-digit minutes just once since July 5. She scored 13 points on a paltry 3-of-12 night from the floor.
The Wings PR Machine made sure to contextualize Fudd’s sudden removal from the lineup on Friday, saying the move was made “out of an abundance of caution” after the soreness came to light following pregame warmups.
Dallas has not submitted an injury update to the league on Fudd as of Saturday afternoon, but the wording of the initial announcement made it sound like the move was made in part to preserve the possibility of Fudd playing on Sunday.
Fudd is averaging 13.1 points and 1.7 steals per game in her rookie season in just under 32 minutes per game, while Miles, who was the second overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft, comes in averaging 19.8 points, 5.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds. Miles will likely be your 2026 WNBA Rookie of the Year.
3-point defense
The Valkyries shot 12-of-25 from 3-point range in Friday’s loss, the seventh time this year Dallas has allowed 10 or more 3-pointers to an opponent. They fell to 2-5 in those games.
The Lynx average just under nine makes from long range per game. Dallas won’t win solely on improved 3-point defense, as Minnesota can beat you in a variety of ways, but it will have to be one ingredient to the mix if the Wings want to pull an upset.
The Lynx are 13-4 at home so far this season.
