The run continues for Arizona women’s golf, which has earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the 39th consecutive time. And the UA men’s squad should be on its way back to the postseason after a strong performance at the Big 12 tourney.
Despite a disappointing Big 12 Tournament finish last week, when it took 11th place, the Wildcat women were selected to compete in the Stanford Regional set for May 11-13 in California. Arizona is the No. 6 seed in the 12-team regional, with the top five teams advancing
to the NCAA championships May 22-27 in Carlsbad, Calif.
The UA last made the championships in 2023, tying for ninth place. It has won the NCAA title three times, most recently in 2018.
Men finish 2nd at Big 12 tourney
Arizona’s men’s team shot 2-under par over four rounds in Dallas to take 2nd place at the Big 12 Tournament, finishing eight shots behind champion Oklahoma State and one stroke ahead of TCU.
It’s a huge improvement from a year ago when the Wildcats were 12th at the Big 12 tourney, and it was their best finish in a conference tournament since winning the Pac-12 title in 2021.
The NCAA Men’s Golf Tournament selections will be announced on May 6, and Arizona is expected to appear in its seventh consecutive tourney. It could be playing very close to home, as the Gallery Golf Club in Marana is one of six hosts for the regional round set for May 18-20.
