Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take
it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- John Cena vs. Gunther is currently set to open Saturday Night’s Main Event, per Bryan Alvarez. The show has no set runtime since it’s streaming exclusively on Peacock, and Alvarez’s sources tell him “Cena will get as much time as he wants” for his send-off, and ”everyone will get all the time they need”.
- Despite recent reports he was done with WWE, WrestleVotes says Jesse “The Body” Ventura will be back for SNME this weekend.
- In response to speculation the LA Knight beatdown on Raw was a write-off similar to Ricochet’s last year, Fightful Select reached out to their WWE sources and was told Knight has “years left” on the deal he signed in 2024. The Vision’s assault of Knight was “a standard story beat” WWE plans to use later.
- There was also apparently talk that Knight was being punished for the holding up a “we want LA Knight, not Jey Uso” fan sign at a show in October, but Fightful says, “Those close to creative dismissed that theory outright, with one person joking that booking Knight to beat Jey Uso would be ‘a weird punishment.’”
- WWE officials like what they’ve seen of Lash Legend so far on the main roster, per BodySlam.net. Their report says Legend’s alliance with Nia Jax is supposed to help “get her up to speed with main roster talents as quick as possible”, as “WWE officials are confident that Legend will have a breakout year as we approach 2026.”
- At sportsbooks like betonline, GUNTHER, Cody Rhodes, and Sol Ruca remain favorites in their respective matches on Saturday, but not as heavily as they were when odds came out on Monday. AJ Styles and Dragon Lee are favored over Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater.
- For what it’s worth, Gambling.com’s odds point toward a John Cena loss at SNME, too. They also say there’s a 36.4% chance WWE Hall of Famer and United States President Donald Trump will be at Saturday’s show in Washington, D.C. If he does end up attending, they say the probability of him getting in the ring at some point is 54.5%.
