TCU outfielder Sawyer Strosnider exploded onto the scene during his freshman season. One of the top newcomers in all of college baseball, Strosnider slashed .350/.420/.650 with 13 doubles, 10 triples,
11 home runs and 51 RBIs. An All-Big 12 First Team honoree and a First-Team All-American by Perfect Game and the NCBWA, Strosnider broke the school record for triples in a season (10) and led the team in both hits (77) and RBIs (51).
Now a sophomore, Strosnider returns to lead an outfield that is loaded with talent. Chase Brunson enters his junior season having earned All-Big 12 awards in each of the last two seasons. A Second-Team All-Big 12 player in 2025, Brunson started 58 games in center field and slashed .317/.395/.554 with 13 doubles, 12 home runs and 46 RBIs. Brunson and Strosnider, who started 31 games in right field last year, will be TCU’s anchors in the outfield.
The Horned Frogs have options to fill the third and final outfield slot. TCU will need a player to step up after Sam Myers, who spent two years with the Horned Frogs and started 21 games last season, entered the transfer portal. TCU also graduated utility player and former Ohio State transfer Isaac Cadena, who saw time in both the infield and outfield last season. Cadena made 54 starts and smashed eight home runs for the Horned Frogs last year.
One player to watch will be redshirt senior Jack Arthur, a key bench bat who’s made 42 appearances since transferring in from Weatherford College in 2024. Arthur, who started 21 games in left field two years ago, owns a .297/.385/.516 slash line with 27 hits and 17 RBIs over 91 at-bats for the Horned Frogs. Arthur started his collegiate career at Texas and will look to carve out a bigger role in his final season of college baseball.
TCU welcomes back three underclassmen outfielders: Cole Eaton, Trever Baumler and CJ Mascarro. A redshirt sophomore who was frequently used as a pinch runner and defensive replacement last season, Eaton had three hits and two RBIs in nine at-bats. Baumler, a sophomore and two-way player who ranked sixth on the team in innings pitched last year, did not register an at-bat in 2025. Mascarro is a freshman newcomer to the team.
