There’s no game today which means that today’s an open thread. I’ll drop the random clip below but for now, I’m going to go through and highlight some comments from recent game threads. Thanks to everybody for continuing to stick around as this season mercifully begins to wind down. You can’t imagine how much your support means. Anyways, let’s hop into it!
8/28/25: Braves at Phillies

This is perhaps the apt time to mention how I went to an instructional league game (I think it was the Angels’ facility) in Arizona and opted to boo
Cal Quantrill mostly due to how he went to Stanford (this was also a college football road trip for me to see Cal at ASU). It turns out that I was like the only fan at that game (my Uber driver did come inside the ballpark with me for a bit) and I got a death stare from Mark Prior who was working with the Padres in some capacity then and managing the Padres Instructional League team.
[Eventually another fan showed up…he’s more experienced and was getting some autographs outside in the backfield. I got one of the foul ball, which I had to outrace one of the players not playing, signed by a napping Hideo Nomo who was there scouting (I think).]
8/29/25: Braves at Phillies

O’Day mentioned on the radio broadcast that Elder recently altered his sinker grip. I might have to find some time to dig into how the may or may not be helping it either movement or command-wise, or maybe both.

9/1/25: Braves at Cubs
From MachoNachoAllen (replying to iFrech, who was talking about the broadcast discussing Ha-Seong Kim’s chances of re-upping with the Braves in the offseason):
I took it as, the Braves feel very confident that Kim will pick up his option. The Braves choose to pay the 2 plus million for this year with a strong inclination they will have him in 26. This smells like an AA special that will pay very positive dividends. The Allen pick up under the radar which has been incredible. Extending Sale before got to the team. I believe the Braves will have a home grown SS for 27 so this seems perfect. I know you were speaking of CJ’s comments sorry I went off on a tangent.

With all of the 1 run losses I think the final season achievement would be a 0-1 no hit loss, with Bryce Elder giving up 0 ER for bonus points.
