Real Madrid Castilla starlet Victor Valdepeñas could start against Alaves on Sunday night, according to Jorge Picon.
Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid find themselves without a first-team left-back for the game
against Alaves, with Ferland Mendy out due to injury, while Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia are facing time off due to suspension. David Alaba, the only other defender who can play in that position, is also injured.
Even Real Madrid’s emergency left-back, Eduardo Camavinga, is injured for the clash at the Mendizorrotza, leaving Alonso with practically no options to have on the left.
Valdepeñas has options to start against Alaves, as he impressed the coaching staff in the training session on Friday.
He is originally a central defender, but has played as a left-back on many occasions before, becoming a good option for Alonso to try out on the left.
It remains to be seen what Alonso actually ends up doing for the game that could reportedly decide his immediate future at Real Madrid.
