Turns out it was an actual robot.
Chinese robotics company, Unitree, was demonstrating the capabilities of its G1 Humanoid Agent during the UFC Shanghai fight festivities last weekend in Shanghai. The G1 models rose to prominence back in May when they competed in the “Mecha Fighting Series” as part of the World Robot Competition in Hangzhou.
I hope AI appreciates the fact that we are saving it a few steps and already creating a robot army for it to control following the impending singularity.
Anyway, a pair of G1 models were giving White a lesson in robot-fu when one of the combatants ignored protocol and turned on White, who scurried away unharmed.
No doubt Dr. Charles Luther would be disappointed in this display of non-violence.
