Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Commanders fans and fans across the country.
Now that the season is well underway, we’re continuing to ask the standard confidence question each week; that is, “Are you confident the Commanders are headed in the right direction?”
We’ve been asking that question weekly from September to December for many years.
With the Commanders fresh off of a 17-point prime-time victory over the Eagles,
and with the overall record standing a 2-4-1 after 7 games, there is a bit of a “2020 season” feel to the current situation, with a weak NFC East and upcoming winnable games.
Washington’s next 7 opponents have a combined record of 22-30-1 (.415 win percentage), and only 2 of them — the Giants and Bengals — have winning records.
Typically, any team with just one win as the season approaches the halfway mark would be thinking more about the April draft than about January playoffs. But with the Eagles on a 6-game skid, the Cowboys looking as vulnerable as the Commanders themselves, and the Giants struggling to hold onto the division lead with JJ McCarthy behind center, it’s not unrealistic for the Commanders to see themselves as being in contention for the NFC East title and spot in the playoffs.
But any sunshine & unicorn dreams of what might be can probably only come to pass if the Commanders can win 7 (or more) of their remaining 10 games.
In today’s second question, we ask you how many games the burgundy & gold will win the next 5 weeks.
Comments & Results
Of course, we invite you to answer the survey questions below, but also feel free to expand on your answers and provide nuance in the comments section. While you are certainly free to simply share which choices you made on the survey question, the most interesting comments will explain why you answered the way you did. I rely on those comments when discussing the results of the survey when they are posted in a separate article the next few days.
