Leon Goretzka has officially begun the next chapter of his career, with Aston Villa announcing the signing of the experienced German midfielder on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old arrives at Villa Park after his stint with Bayern Munich, where he established himself as a key figure in one of Europe’s most successful clubs. Goretzka joined Bayern Munich from Schalke 04 in 2018 and went on to win seven Bundesliga titles during his time in Bavaria.
Goretzka’s trophy cabinet also includes a UEFA Champions
League title, highlighting the level of experience he brings to Aston Villa as the club continues to strengthen its squad.
Goretzka has earned 73 caps for Germany and has made more than 500 senior appearances throughout his career. His journey began with hometown club VfL Bochum before he moved to Schalke 04, where he developed into one of Germany’s most highly regarded midfielders.
Now, after eight years with Bayern Munich, Goretzka will take on a new challenge in the Premier League. For Aston Villa, the signing adds considerable experience, leadership and Champions League pedigree to the midfield. For Goretzka, it provides an opportunity to prove himself in a new league while continuing his career at the highest level.
