Most of the boxing world was deeply saddened by the untimely passing of retired champion Ricky Hatton, and while initial reports never specifically mentioned a cause of death, ESPN now confirms that Hatton’s
death was due to suicide . The 46-year-old Hatton was revealed to have been found hanged in his home located in Hyde on September 14 by his manager Paul Speak, as told to the corner’s court in England.
The court was told that Hatton seemed well when he was last seen by family members on September 12 but that he didn’t arrive for an event as he was expected to on the 14th, which prompted his manager to come to his home to pick him up for a scheduled flight to Dubai. That is when Hatton’s body was found.
Given that his family thought him to be in a good place, Hatton’s sudden death was obviously shocking and devastating for his close family and friends, and he’s seen an great deal of tributes paid to him from those all over the boxing world who remember him fondly.
