The North Carolina Tar Heels share just moments away from facing off against Syracuse on the road to try and win their first ACC game of the season. This is a sentence that will be modified, copied, and pasted
until morale improves, and there is no telling if we will ever get to stop doing so. The Heels were so close in their last two games, but one could argue that close wasn’t all that close. Was the score close? Sure. Was the offense still absolute trash, though? Also yes.
The good news for Bill Belichick is that Syracuse is having to roll out another backup quarterback and that their offense has been pretty bad ever since they lost Steve Angeli for the season due to a torn Achilles tendon. UNC has an opportunity to capitalize, but it’s really only if the offense can get going somehow, which they have been unable to do so for quite some time. It’s hard to say what has to change for this situation to improve, but perhaps shutting out the Orange will give UNC a chance? The timeline is dark, friends.
Should UNC win this game, perhaps they could star to build a little momentum throughout November, but its will be tough. They still have to play Duke, Wake Forest, and NC State, and all of those teams have a very good chance of embarrassing the Heels in their current form. Yes, this goes for the Wolfpack as well, who have a coach that apparently is on thin ice from what I’ve heard around the Triangle. Turns out that having your only claim to fame being that you can beat UNC isn’t enough to keep people from wanting you fired. Imagine that.
Let’s hope that tonight’s game is at least entertaining, because this honestly has the makings of a really bad football game that is scarier than any Halloween costume that fans may see while watching this one. As always, we’ll be back after the game with post-game analysis and takes. Until then, Go Heels!
