Jon Jones is more focused on a potential fight against Alex Pereira at the White House than what’s happening with Tom Aspinall. But “Bones” did take a subtle jab at Aspinall when the heavyweight champion was unable to continue in UFC 321’s main event after Ciryl Gane poked him badly in both eyes.
Jones held the heavyweight title from March 2023 to June 2025, and during that time he refused to fight interim champ Aspinall. That led to a lot of fans (and Aspinall himself) accusing the GOAT contender
of ducking — an accusation Jones laughed at by making his social media profile pics a duck.
Following Aspinall’s eye poke No Contest in Abu Dhabi, Jones updated that profile pic to include an eye patch.
On Twitter, Jones chose to respond to Alex Pereira, who wants to ‘Make Heavyweight Great Again’ with a fight against Jon at the White House.
“Alex, I’d be down to bring the highest skill level to the White House,” Jones wrote. “I appreciate the respect you showed, let’s dance.”
UFC CEO Dana White hasn’t been receptive to the idea of Jones fighting on the promotion’s big June White House event. But with Alex Pereira pushing the superfight so hard, it may be difficult for the UFC to ignore the massive main event that’s right there for the taking.
As for Aspinall? It’s looking like the UFC will rebook a fight with Ciryl Gane ‘as soon as possible’ … which may be another four months away.
