
The Cincinnati Reds continue their West Coast trip continuing their quest to break into the second Wild Card position. After taking 2 of 3 from the Los Angeles Angels, they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks only half a game out of that playoff spot. The Reds send Zack Littell to the mound to make his fourth start as a Redleg. He’ll face off against Ryne Nelson. Nelson is a right handed pitcher in his fourth season in the majors. He’s had a solid season in 2025, making 16 starts (26 appearances) and putting
up a 3.58 ERA across 113 innings. His last time out, he threw 6 shutout innings against the Pirates.
The Reds did make a move heading into this series, promoting Zach Maxwell from Triple-A Louisville and demoting Luis Mey. Maxwell is a right hander who was selected in the 6th round of the 2022 draft out of Georgia Tech. He’s throwin 49.2 innings for Louisville and owns a 4.17 ERA. He’s thrown well in the month of August, allowing only 1 run in 9.1 innings with 6 walks and 13 strikeouts. His first appearance for the Reds will be his Major League debut.
