Xavier Woods, aka Austin Creed, and Kofi Kingston haven’t said much since confirming their WWE exits with characteristically gracious statements in May. They should be free agents next week, and pretty much everyone I talk to expects them to sign with AEW and be in the tag title mix with Cage & Cope, The Young Bucks, and others by All In at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 30.
Today (July 29), both the active members of The New Day posted the following video on their social media accounts. Entitled “Daybreak”,
it’s created by long-time friend of the group Jonathan Davenport, who also crafted Big E’s initial reaction to his New Day brothers’ departure.
“Daybreak” tells the story of two unicorns who’ve been performing at a circus. They’re chained up in a balcony while the show’s going on, and clearly not happy about it. The pair charge toward freedom multiple times until they pull their shackles from the wall, leaping toward the big top as their collars magically disappear. They charge toward a bearded ringmaster who’s hogging the spotlight and doesn’t not look a little like Triple H (in addition to not being used much in their final months with the company, reports told us thay Woods and Kingston were offered new contracts at reduced pay, and the 13 and 16-time WWE Tag champs decided to bet on themselves instead). Our mythical protagonists eventually put their heads down and charge through the door barred to prevent them from exiting.
But first, they turned to a unicorn with a broken horn still trapped in a pen, with one of the escapees looking particularly heartbroken. But the unicorn representing Big E, who still works for WWE as a commentator and host, nods his approval and the X and Kof-icorns turn back toward the door with even more resolve. Not ashamed to tell you I teared up a bit here; it’s a simple scene that conveys much more emotion than an animated video about a wrestling act leaving a promotion should be able to.
They break off their own horns busting out, and as the gallop off into the sunset, turn back into men whose silhouettes we clearly recognize.

Where are the former New Day duo headed next? Honestly, knowing how much time, effort, and love they put into something like this… doesn’t matter to me. I’ll be seated for whatever it is.
