Jackson McVey played savior earlier tonight (Sat., April 25, 2026) at UFC Vegas 116 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping fellow middleweight Sedriques Dumas with a first-round submission (D’Arce choke) to inject some life into a “Sin City” card that started with five-straight decisions.
McVey, who was a betting favorite heading into Saturday’s 185-pound clash, was coming off back-to-back losses to start his UFC tenure and desperately needed to show his worth inside
of the Octagon. While Dumas was just 3-4 (1 NC) in UFC competition he’s still a serviceable middleweight with finishing capability. It was going to be up to McVey to ward off an upset and finally cash in as a member of the UFC roster. McVey did just that.
“Moose” only needed a few minutes before he landed a short right hand that clipped Dumas and sent him to the canvas. McVey followed up with heavy ground-and-pound as the referee was watching closely. The shots were piling up, but nothing that was going to put Dumas out. That’s when McVey switched up his approach, locked up a tight D’Arce choke, and forced Dumas to tap.
