Indiana football is once again heavily favored in its quest to extend its ongoing winning streak.
The Hoosiers are a strong 24.5-point favorite over Rutgers as of Monday evening, per FanDuel Sportsbook. Indiana won all three of its non-conference matchups in blowout fashion before putting together a 29-23 win over a spirited Northwestern team.
It’s Curt Cignetti’s first time facing Rutgers as Indiana’s head coach. He’s faced, and beaten, every other Big Ten program save for USC and Minnesota. It’s also
this team’s first game on the road, with its three non-conference contests and the Northwestern matchup taking place at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
As for the Scarlet Knights, they’re 1-3 on the young season with losses against USC, Boston College and UMass, with the fall to the Minutemen as a season-opening stunner. They managed to keep it close against the Trojans, falling 42-35 at home, before earning their first win, a 58-7 rout against the same Howard team the Hoosiers beat.
Rutgers is reeling a bit with Greg Schiano firmly on the hot seat entering the matchup. It’s also homecoming in Piscataway, which could make for an interesting night atmosphere.
